Our first official community speedpuzzling event, hosted by Speedpuzzling.com. This event was simultaneously happening in 22 other states in the U.S. and the first one in Hawaii!  So considering, this is VERY new to Hawaii, we had a great turnout.

Super Saturday is a mini-tournament that emulates a standard competition, but in a shorter time frame with smaller piece counts. This tournament lasts just 4 hours, and puzzlers race to complete in Solo, Pair and Team categories. 

​

Five solo puzzlers raced to finish a 300-pc puzzle in 60 minutes or less. Allie Arendell of Honolulu finished first, with a time of 26:41.

​

A little more liveliness for the Pairs comp. Some spectators arrived, which is always a great sign for future growth! Three pairs registered, but the group convinced a 4th pair to join in puzzling a 300pc in a 45m timeframe. Allie Arendell and partner Katherine Wood raced to finish first with a time of 16:36.

Our little space at Suite Possibilities was starting to max out when all the teams arrived. Teams of 4 get 60 minutes to finish a 500pc puzzle. I can confidently say it was no suprise when Allie Arendell, teamed with Katherine Wood, Mary Sharp, and Amanda Richards finished first with in 24 minutes and 10 seconds.

However, everyone had a lot of fun and walked away with some extra puzzles from the swap table. There was also a table full of donated puzzles from a community member - thank you, Mara! A big mahalo to John from Top Shape Sportfishing who donated 2 puzzle boards, which two lucky puzzlers won as door prizes.

All in all, it was really wonderful to meet some other avid puzzlers from the community, and we're all looking forward to our next competition.

The next Speedpuzzling.com Super Saturday that is on MY books, is January 31, 2026. Venue to be determined.
